Je suis une princesse!!

 Bonjour!!! j'avais prévu de poster régulièrement cette semaine, et de répondre à tous les commentaires en attente, mais le boulot en a décidé autrement...
Mais j'en vois le bout normalement, ça devrait être plus calme à partir de ce week-end, et je vous prépare une surprise assez sympa dans les jours à venir!

Pour aujourd'hui, je vous montre une manucure toute simple que j'ai faite après avoir fait mon soin des ongles dimanche dernier. J'ai été obligé de raccourcir un peu vu que mon majeur est toujours au stade nain et que mes ongles étaient en mauvais état, mais avec des soins et le retour du soleil, ça devrait s'arranger.
Quand je me fais un soin des mains, j'ai toujours envie de mettre des couleurs claires ensuite, et comme je relisais mes articles de l'an passé, j'ai eu envie de remettre le Pink-A-Boo d'Essie.

 Ensuite, je l'ai agrémenté d'un triangle et d'une petite fleur et c'est Minnie qui m'a dit "oh, ça te fait des ongles de princesse!"

 

 

Rose Spam

Je vous l'ai promis sur Hellocoton, voici un post nawak à base de rose/beige/nude. J'ai de nouveau un ordinateur, mais j'ai aussi plein de boulot et entre les photos coincées depuis deux mois sur le disque de mon portable, celles qui sont sur le portable de Minnie et celles qui sont dans l'appareil photo, ça va me prendre bcp de temps à charger et trier...  Donc pour aujourd'hui, on écluse les super vieilles photos et il se  trouve que beaucoup d'entre elles était dans la même gamme, c'est une avalanche de douceur et de délicatesse...

                                                                  

 Vous vous souvenez quand j'ai fait mon Friends' Friday pour Marie (mais si, c'est là), je vous avais dit que j'avais tenté d'autres nail-art associés à sa jolie bague nœud rose. Vous pouvez les voir en haut à gauche et en bas à droite. Ensuite, on a trois swatchs de vernis nude déjà vus ici, le Zoya Shay en bas à gauche, le OPI Play the Peonies en bas au milieu et le Zoya Kirsten en haut à droite. Et pour finir, une enième version du dégradé à la Pshiiit avec A-England Iseult et OPI Teenage Dream.

Voilà, c'était le spam du jour, je reviens demain avec du lourd, que ce soit pour le nail-art ou pour le message qui va avec!

French & Fail

Après avoir célébré la Reine d'Angleterre hier avec du métallique, des paillettes et du stamping, aujourd'hui, on fait dans la douceur et dans la manucure à la française (au fait, vous savez que ce sont des Américains qui  l'ont inventée? Selon les sources, ce serait Max Factor ou Jeff Pink, et on ne sait pas vraiment pourquoi elle a été appelée French). Je suis très attachée à la French manucure simplement parce que c'est par elle que j'ai commencé le nail-art. Ça remonte à une vingtaine d'années, j'étais ado, et Yves Rocher avait sorti des kits spéciaux. Je me revois passer des heures à essayer de maîtriser la technique... faut croire que ça a marché puisque ça fait longtemps que je fais mes French à main levée, et qu'une de mes cousines m'a dit récemment qu'aussi loin qu'elle se souvienne, elle avait toujours adoré mes ongles et mes French. Bref, tout ça pour dire que même si j'adore la couleur et les paillettes, régulièrement, je me fais une French. Et je pense avoir enfin trouvé le partenaire parfait: le duo French d'Ecrinal.

Oui, je sais, je vous parle souvent de cette marque, mais je trouve vraiment leurs produits fantastiques. Jusqu'à présent, j'ai testé le durcisseur, le sérum vitaminé, la crème APN (vous pouvez retrouver tout ça dans les posts libellés "manicure") et ce fameux kit, et c'est carton plein. 

Une French manucure, pour moi, ça doit être classe, raffiné, naturel et délicat. Je  ne supporte pas les trucs faits à l'acrylique avec le bord trop blanc, trop large et le rose "plastique". Déjà, je trouve qu'il y a une longueur maximum pour faire une French, genre celle que vous allez voir plus bas. Au-delà, je trouve que ce n'est pas joli (je parle de la French dont le but est d'être portée seule, pas en tant que base de nail-art ou avec d'autres couleurs que le blanc et rose). Ensuite, j'aime que le blanc ne soit pas trop blanc, mais un peu translucide, et que le rose ait un fini naturel, qui harmonise la couleur de la plaque sans la masquer et sans faire de traces de pinceau.

 

Voici mes ongles avec seulement le blanc. J'adore ce vernis, d'autant plus que le pinceau est suffisamment fin pour que je ne m'en mette pas plein les doigts, et suffisamment épais pour que je puisse dessiner mon bord libre d'un coup.

 

 

Et voilà le résultat final avec une couche de rose. Je trouve le fini vraiment naturel et très sympa. Et alors que j'avais réussi ma French et que mes mains étaient superbes, je me suis dit "tiens, et si j'ajoutais un petit truc", et j'ai ressorti un flacon que je n'avais pas ouvert depuis un an.

 

OPI I Juggle Men, de la collection Femme de Cirque. Dans la bouteille, d'adorables micro-paillettes roses et bleues dans une base presque transparente. Mais une fois le flacon ouvert, horreur, malheur, ce n'est plus un vernis, c'est aussi épais que du joint de salle de bains. Qu'à cela ne tienne, hop, un coup de diluant et on y va.

 

 

Sauf qu'en fait, ça a fait des paquets sur mes ongles. Pas sur tous, et pas tout de suite, sinon je l'aurais vu tout de suite et j'aurais arrêté, non non, j'ai fini ma manucure et 5 min plus tard, je me retrouvais avec des paquets en relief comme celui que vous voyez sur l'index... Pas cool OPI...

Essie Topless & Barefoot and Fairy Fingers

 The other day I was in the mood for soft shades so I decided to re-swatch one of my favourite beige/pink shade, Topless & Barefoot from Essie. Easy application, opacity in two coats for very delicate hands.

 

As I told you some time ago, I rearranged my office and I now have different (and hopefully better) conditions for taking pics, so you'll see various angles and poses as I'm experimenting.

I didn't want to leave this polish alone, I had thought of stamping but ho, horror, I had to buy a different polish remover than my beloved OPI and the one I have (and sincerely hate) is packed with moisturizer, making it impossible to use with konad. So as I was looking for other options, I found this tiny jar of glitter from an old HK polish set bought at Claire's.

 

I went for the "barbarious and messy" glitter application, applying top-coat randomly on my nails and dipping my fingers in the pot, thus ensuring that my desk, my clothes and my carpet would be covered in fairy dust!! After that, a thick coat of top-coat, and there you go!

 

 

 Aside from my new office arrangement, Picasa (the programm I use to crop and watermark my pictures) has been updated with many more available options. I'm not for tampering with picture too much, especially since I use Minnie's camera which has a lot of options, I try to get my pictures as good as possible when I shoot them, not by playing with a programm. But still, I had a bit of fun with halos and such, as you can see above. I don't think I'll do that often, but sometimes it's nice :)

H&M Disney polishes - Confetti kisses on Pink Skies

Last week, Minnie and I went to Paris for some Disney fun and Christmas shopping and it implied a trip to a certain H&M shop that carries Disney-themed cosmetics. Among those were several nail polishes, two in the Bambi collection and two in the Mickey-Minnie collection. If you know me by now, you'd have guessed which ones I took: the baby pink and the silver glitter!! And since it's H&M, it was under 5 euros for both bottles.

Bambi Pink Skies is really great, applies like butter and is opaque in two coats. The only downside is that the brush was screwed up, which is why my application isn't perfect (and as I know I was going to do some layering, I cleaned up only at the end).

And on top of this pretty baby polish, one coat of Confetti Kisses for a glittery Christmassy look. Once again, very easy application, the glitter is easy to work with. I loved this combo so much that I kept it almost a week which is very rare for me!

Zoya Feel 2 Kennedy + comparisons

Second review for the Zoya Feel collection with Kennedy (second from the right on the picture), a dusty pink very flattering and classy. As with the others, application can be tricky, you must clean the stem of the brush carefully before starting to paint the nail, but otherwise, no complaint: opacity in two coats, quicky drying and glossy finish. You see it here without top-coat.

When I first applied it, I thought it would be a dupe for OPI Steady as she Rose, so I went for a comparison. OPI SasR is on the left, Kennedy in the middle, and I added Beige Crayeux from LM Cosmetic on the right.

OPI SasR is more pink and dustier, I can see some grey in it, while Beige Crayeux leans more towards lilac.

Essie Topless & Barefoot

Let's take a break from all the dazzling and glittery Christmas shades, shall we? I really felt like "cleansing my palette" with a nice nude shade, Essie Topless & Barefoot from the Spring 2011 French Affair collection. It's a sandy pink with easy application, perfect coverage in two coats and beautiful glossy finish. I like it so much that a back-up bottle is on its way right now, the first one I bought is almost empty!

Don't mind my poor-looking cuticles, they suffered a lot in the removal of Rainbow Connection...

The shaded picture is the more accurate in terms of colour, it shows the sandy edge of that pretty pink.

And with the flash, you can see the super glossy finish!

October is Pink! A-england Iseult + comparison OPI Play the Peonies

I'm ending the pink series with my most recent acquisition, Iseult from a-england. Remember what I said about not resisting some colours even if I already have similar ones? Well, that's typically it!! Iseult is a milky-pink shimmer and it really stands apart from the rest of the Mythicals. It's the only pale colour that's not meant for layering (as Morgana or Merlin), and while it is fairly opaque in two coats (in real life, it is, though less on pictures), which is quite rare for a pale colour, the formula was a bit different than the other Mythicals I tested. It's a bit more liquid so it requires a more careful application. After two coats, it's perfect and gives you hands worthy of the legendary "Iseult of the White Hands".

And then I wanted to compare Iseult to my darling from last summer, OPI Play the Peonies. You see both in two coats, without topcoat (don't mind the dreadful application on the pointer). 

OPI PtP on pointer and ring, Iseult on middle finger and pinkie.

As you can see, PtP is a bit whiter and more shimmery. Somehow, PtP feels more like summer to me and Iseult more winter, so it's perfect!!

October is Pink! OPI Steady as she Rose

Yeah, another pink, woohoo!! Seriously, get ready for vampy shades and glitter next month, I'm booooored with pinks!! But as pinks go, this one is edgy and quite interesting. It's the only polish I bought from the Pirates of the Carribeans collection, the mauve/pink Steady as She Rose (btw, can someone explain that name to me? Most of the time I do understand OPI's weird names, but I don't get this one). It's quite opaque for a pale colour, two coats are perfect with a nice glossy finish.

October is Pink! OPI Bubble Bath + Makes Men Blush & Peony for your Thoughts

Still in the nude pink chapter, I'm showing you a classic today: OPI Bubble Bath. Beige pink, quite impossible to build up, it's clearly meant as a French polish. Here's what it looks like with two coats (yes, I know, my nails are yellow, I'm working on that!!)

No matter the light, it doesn't look as if you're wearing any polish at all. I usually use it as a base for similar shimmery polish, just as I do with Step Right Up that I showed you yesterday. I have two polishes of this kind, one is quite well-known, it's OPI Makes Men Blush, same base colour but with red shimmer, and the other is A Peony for your Thoughts from the Yokohama collection, with blue shimmer. I actually got this polish by mistake: I was looking for a full-size bottle of Play the Peonies from the Nice Stems Collection and I must have had a moment of inattention and realised my mistake only on receiving the bottle. I don't regret it at all, my only problem with is that it's a black label, old formula, so that means runniness, sheerness and slow drying. On the up side, the shimmer shows a lot more in this one than in Makes Men Blush. You can see the differences below, it's one coat of either MMB or PfyT over two coats of Bubble Bath:
