OPI Designer & Fozzie

Bonjour! En guise de pause entre le nail-art d'hier, que je trouve fort mignon, et celui de demain pour la SundayNailBattle, dont je suis raide dingue, je vous propose aujourd'hui un nail-art loupé, enfin, j'aime pas du tout le résultat. Mais bon, pas de chichis entre nous, je vous le montre sans pudeur.

Tout a commencé par une envie de reporter un de mes chouchous de l'hiver, le Designer de Better d'OPI de la collection Muppets, et de refaire un swatch, parce que je crois que mon swatch précédent était un des plus pourris de la blogosphère: mes ongles étaient déformés et ratiboisés et il y avait à peu près autant de lumière que sur le cercle polaire un 22 décembre... Donc, voici Designer de Better version 2012:

 

 

 

 

Comme vous pouvez le voir, ce vernis est une tuerie, un foil champagne composé d'argent, de cuivre et de rose, pour un fini sublime. L'application est facile avec opacité en deux couches. Bon, jusque-là, tout va bien, c'est après que ça se gâte. Designer de Better a un frère dans la collection Muppets qui répond au nom de Warm & Fozzie, fini similaire mais dominante marron avec des touches de vert, de cuivre et de rose. J'ai voulu fait un nail-art associant les deux, avec du scotch. Vous jugerez vous-même, mais je n'aime pas du tout, mais alors pas du tout le résultat final...

 

 

 

Butterflies for the Queen - Lillibet's Jubilee swatch & nail-art

 Encore des nouveautés, pas de Sephora, mais de Butter London, avec le Lillibet's Jubilee en provenance de la Pshiiit Boutique. Comme je vous l'ai dit lors de mon article sur la réception du colis, ce vernis est le tout dernier de la marque, créé pour le Jubilé d'Elizabeth II. C'est un très beau foil argent avec une pointe de lilas, qui me rappelle le Sci-Fi de China Glaze. Tout comme Sci-Fi, il faut avoir une couleur argent à côté pour voir la différence. L'application est un petit peu délicate, comme tous les foils mais le séchage est rapide et le résultat final magnifique, sans aucune trace de pinceau.

Lillibet's Jubilee, deux couches, sans top-coat

 

 

Je vous montre Lillibet's Jubilee à côté de Zoya Trixie pour vous montrer la différence de ton. 

J'ai décidé de décorer Lillibet's Jubilee sans trop savoir vers quoi je partais. J'ai commencé par appliquer Trixie à l'éponge. Et ensuite, j'ai  dégradé le Full Spectrum de China Glaze en French. 

 

Enfin, j'ai sorti ma plaque Bundle Monster 205 avec le motif intégral papillons. Un coup de top-coat et c'est fini!

 

 

 

 

 

OPI Muppets - Warm and Fozzie

Here's the second star of the Muppets collection, the brown Warm and Fozzie. This Designer de Better dark brown brother and just as I loved the first one for its complexity and subdued foil finish, I also adore this one. On the pictures below (all with two coats without top-coat), you can first see it's brighter golden side in full light, then the pink particles on the third pic (remember that you can click to make the pics bigger), and finally, with the flash, the warmer copper undertones.

OPI Muppets Designer de Better

We're starting the OPI Muppets Collection with the colour I was most eager to lay my hands on: ever since I saw it on Helen's blog, I wanted it! I'm really, really bummed because my nails are short and bad-looking, I don't feel like I'm doing justice to this beauty and to top it all, the light was über crappy all week and I had to do three sessions of pictures to  have "acceptable" shoots (which I find quite hideous!!). So here is the champagne-copper foil that I feel I've been waiting for a long time, perfect application in two coats, and a super classy result. You see it here without top-coat.

Designer De Better is a very complex shade with silver, gold and pink that gives it beautiful depth. You know how I love foils, and I always had a soft spot for pinkish gold/ copper shades (even for jewels, don't come near me with yellow gold, but pink gold, and even white gold are things I can consider!!). The first Orly polish I bought was Rage from the Foil FX collection, but somehow, I didn't warm up to it, and now that I have the OPI to compare it with, I think the Orly is too "sparkly" for my taste. I like OPI foils (and Zoya's) because they have this subdued soft look that makes them super classy. I took out Orly Rage and China Glaze Hi-Tek to compare. You see CG on the left (pointer), OPI in the middle and Orly on the right (ring finger):

OPI Rally Pretty Pink

On Saturday, I showed you Pros & Bronze from the last instalment of the Glam Slam series, and it reminded me that I had not shown you Rally Pretty Pink, another beauty from this series. OPI was the first to release this colour, but since, it's been seen in Zoya's Summer Collection with Faye, and declined with some changes in the base colours in OPI It's My Year and Orly Rock the World (see this post from the PolishAholic).

So six months or so after its release, this colour doesn't look new at all, it's one of the big ones of 2011, but it really lovely nonetheless. A tea-rose pink overloaded with fine golden shimmer, it's at once delicate and completely crazy!! The only downside of this beauty is that it stains really badly. My nails were so tattooed after the first time I wore it that I still have some kind of "phobia" to put it on!!! But with my Orly Bonder base (OMG, I  have to finish my "manicure routine" posts with the base/topcoats!!), I can now safely wear it!! Here it is in two coats with top-coat.

Final thought on the Glam Slam! series

The Glam Slam!  series is now completed, and we can take a look back on this very original project: born from a cooperation with Serena Williams, it came in four instalments, each corresponding with a tournament of the Grand Slam series:

At first, I was quite unimpressed: Black Shatter never made me blink and the yellow-green Simply Smashing was not likely to steal my heart. With the French instalment and Rally Pretty Pink, my heart started to flutter, but the constant association of a beautiful shade with a shatter annoyed me (I'll tell you what I think about the whole shatter craze some other time). The England sets broke that trend and gave us Servin'Up Sparkle as a layering option on the two other colours and I was "almost" won: I admit that the difficulties of application for Servin'Up Sparkle disappointed me, I was ready to love this holo glitter top-coat. And the final set had no layering option only two gorgeous colours. So I'm not counting the shatters in my review since they were all gathered in the "Shatter Collection".

I have to say that the Glam Slam! Collection displayed a versatility and originality that hasn't been seen in a single OPI collection for a while: the fact that it was released by twos or threes worked as an obligation to keep buyers interested. All polish-addicts can sometimes fall prey to the wish of wanting to have a complete collection, even if not all the colours have the same interest and appeal, and as a result, many collections contain "fillers". But the special format of the Glam Slam! collection made that easy solution impossible and for me there's not a signle uninteresting polish in there. Sure, I don't like them all, matter of taste, and there are some I passed because my limited budget only allowed real crushes, but I'm quite amazed at all the colours. I don't know if OPI will make another collection by instalments in the future, but I sure hope so!!

OPI Pros and Bronze

It can sometimes happen that after seeing dozens and dozens of new polishes every year (I did a quick count of the number of polishes that OPI release/will release over the year 2011, it comes close to 80 o.O) you feel like nothing new can come up and it's always new versions of old things. And yet, once in a while, you find an utterly original and fantastic colour. Such was Pros & Bronze. It's part of the last set from the Glam Slam collection, the US release. While the other one, Love is a Racket is a red and reds don't really appeal to me, I couldn't pass on this one. 

It's not quite a glass fleck nor quite a foil, all I can say is that it's an amazingly glittery and mesmerizing mix of bronze, gold and pink. It has gone straight in my top ten list!! I took a lot of pictures under different lightning to try and capture the many aspects of this jewel, so now get ready for photo overload!! You see Pros & Bronze in two coats with Seche Vite.
