Beauty Wednesday - Bio Oil

Welcome to the Beauty Wednesday, when we temporarily leave the world of nail polish to take care of the rest. But the rules I stand for concerning my hands are also valid for the rest of my body: what matters most for me is being and looking healthy more than being pampered, so my beauty reviews will be more about bodycare products than about make-up. I've told you many times already, I have a very poor skin. I think I always had quite a dry skin but it really suffered and became sick when I was working on my PhD thesis. Those were very tough years in terms of stress and they took a toll on my body, both due to stress and also because I fell into bulimia at that time and took a lot of weight in a very short time. As a result, my belly literally bursted out and got covered in stretch-marks. I guess it was quite symbolic of my thesis being my baby!!
All women have stretch marks, and I don't give a damn about those that I have on my breasts or bum. But those on the belly were really ugly and even after lost weight (not yet everything I want to lose but I'm on my way), they wouldn't heal.
So I started to look for something to nurture my belly. I had read that Barbary Fig essential oil was miraculous so I bought a bottle and gave it a try. I was highly disappointed. It was unpleasant to use, very greasy and I found it impossible to make it penetrate. I saw absolutely no change in my skin so I emptied the bottle thinking I would keep my ugly marks. And then, I read a review on Teddy's blog Planète Beauté (yes, I will mention Teddy quite often in this section!!) about Bio Oil.

Bio Oil claims to be different from other body oils thanks to the exclusive PurCellin Oil (tm) that enables it to be without water: it sinks better in the skin and the absence of oxygen gives it a very long-lasting potency. If you want more information, go there: Bio Oil.
After a quick search on Ebay, I found a 200ml bottle for a little over 15 euros and decided to give it a try. I apply it once a day, only on the belly, right after my shower in the evening. The first major difference with my disappointed Barbary Fig Oil is that you need a very small quantity and it easily sinks into the skin, you don't feel all greasy for hours. The smell is very light, a bit flowery, all in all pleasant. And, what's more important than everything else, IT WORKS!! I've been using Bio Oil for six months now (and my bottle is not empty yet), and my stretch marks are totally healed. Of course, they're still a bit visible, the only invisible stretch marks are the ones you don't have because you moisturize before they appear, but those thin lines are a huge change from the red bloody cracks I used to have. Maybe even the lines will disappear after a while, because I have no intention of stopping my daily application of Bio Oil!! I haven't used in on any other parts of my body but it is said to work miracles for every skin marks or dryness, so I'll probably try it as masks this winter.
That's all for today folks, see you tomorrow for a brand new polish for which I've barely seen swatches yet!! (if you want a sneak peek, go there and like it: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Purple-Fairy-Book/178744172191370)
