A-England - Sleeping Palace

OPI Lincoln Park after Dark Suede

We come to the end of the matte/suede series with OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, the violet from the Suede collection. No need to tell you I love it, you already know what I think of violets!! Once again, perfect application, opacity in two coats, it's just perfect!

And now with top-coat, and to show you that it's a violet and not a plum, I added Nubar Prevail on the ring finger. Forgive my crappy application, my Nubar decided to annoy me!!

So that's it for my matte polishes. There are three other colours in the Suede collection, OPI Ink, a blue-leaning purple, Russian Navy, a denim blue, and Here Today Aragon Tomorrow, a green. As I'm not really keen on either of these colours, I left them out of my lemming list. Nubar also released three other colours (to my knowledge), a gunmetal grey, a lighter grey and a gold.
Have I won you over for matte and suede polishes? Which are your favourites?
Tomorrow I'll be showing you something completely different, there'll be sun, there'll be light, there'll be nail art!

OPI We'll Always Have Paris Suede + comparison

Second to last colour from my Suede stock, here's We'll Always Have Paris. This is a soft purple-rose, which is not quite a colour I would go for in a cream, but I absolutely adore it in the suede finish. You see it here in two coats, no base, no top-coat.

And here it is with top-coat on the middle-finger, compared to OPI My Big Break and OPI Meet Me On the Star Ferry. The differences are quite obvious and I don't have any closer colour in my stash (and the two others of the comparisons are not ones I reach for often actually).

We're drawing near the end of this series, only one Nubar and one OPI left to show you, I hope you're not bored to death with matte polishes yet!

OPI Suzi Skies in the Pyrenees Suede + Chanel Graphite comparison

We continue with the matte polishes with another suede from OPI, the gunmetal grey Suzi Skies in the Pyrenees. I bought that one many months after the others because at first, I wasn't in the mood for dark greys. But winter came and then I wanted to wear grey almost every day. While You Don't Know Jacques was very much reminiscent of the suede that gives its name to the collection, this one is felt on the nails. Like the other, it applies easily and is opaque in two coats.

And when I topcoated it, I took the opportunity to compare it with another of my favourite greys, Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous from the Swiss Collection. And since I had been to Sephora and tried on Chanel Graphite, it's in here as well (sorry for the giant smudge on my middle finger, I did it right after coming out of Sephora)

OPI LTLM, Chanel Graphite, OPI SSitP Suede with top-coat

As you see, the two OPIs have the same colour, but not the same finish, LTLM having metallic and green shimmer while SSitP only has silver glitter. And Chanel Graphite has a touch of gold in the gunmetal base which puts it between silver and gold.

OPI You don't know Jacques Suede

Another day, another matte polish. Though in truth, this one is a "suede", meaning it's a shimmer polish that's matified, giving it a look resembling suede. Suede is a very soft spot of mine, I love suede shoes , suede clothes, suede coats... well, I'm not a purist, if it looks like suede (and doesn't cost an arm), I'm more than fine with it!! Right now, I have my eyes on this for winter:

And believe me, with the price tag, they're totally fake suede!! Soo, all this to say that OPI's Suede collection was likely to catch my eye. And I was lucky to be able to get all the colours I wanted last year, apparently they were, even then, hard to find. Today's pick is You Don't Know Jacques, the taupe. You see it here in two coats, no base-coat, no top-coat.

And when you apply top-coat, you have a beautiful taupe packed with silver shimmer, it's absolutely gorgeous!!
