 Bonjour tout le monde! La suite des photos du swap arrivent, mais aujourd'hui, c'est un jour particulier puisque ce sont les deux ans du blog (j'ai failli oublier mais il se trouve que c'est aussi l'anniversaire d'une copine d'enfance!!), donc je fais un post un peu spécial.
J'ai beaucoup réfléchi pour savoir si j'allais fêter l'évènement de façon particulière ou pas, et la réponse est : je n'en sais rien!



Je m'explique : oui, bien sûr, sur le fond j'ai envie de fêter ça, mais c'est le comment qui me pose problème. L'an dernier, j'ai dédié énormément de temps, d'énergie et d'argent pour préparer le premier anniversaire avec double concours, toussa, toussa, et au final, j'en suis ressortie un peu frustrée parce que même si certaines gagnantes ont été parfaites et j'étais ravie de leur envoyer leur colis, j'ai aussi eu des reproches sur ci, sur ça, des personnes pas sympas ou franchement impolies qui n'ont jamais pris le temps d'un simple merci voire ne se sont même pas donné la peine d'accuser réception de leur colis... bref, c'est très décourageant. Alors oui, on "attend" d'une bloggeuse qu'elle fasse des concours pour ce genre d'évènements, mais la plupart le font avec des partenaires, c'est très bien, mais ce n'est pas le genre de chose qui me fait envie, vous le savez, je fais rarement les choses "comme tout le monde". Donc voilà, pour l'instant, je me tâte encore, on verra, je ne peux pas vous dire mieux!

Pour marquer le coup j'ai quand même décidé de faire un post un peu spécial. Ces derniers jours, j'ai passé pas mal de temps à classer mes photos, et je me suis bien marré avec les copines par sms en leur montrant mes plus grosses casseroles de NA, les trucs qui datent d'il y a 3/4 ans lorsque j'ai découvert tout ça et que j'ai voulu tenter. Les intentions sont bonnes, mais le reste, comment dire... je vous laisse juger, vous avez le droit de vous marrer, de vous moquer, voici la preuve en images que je ne suis pas née avec le gène du NA ni celui du soin des mains/ongles et que je viens de très, très, très loin :D

 Sur Minnie, un combo "Absolutely Alice" + French à paillettes + petits nœuds bleus (parce que oui, vous allez le voir, non seulement je faisais des manucures moches, mais en plus je faisais ça avec des vernis super beaux!!)

Sur un OPI DS (que j'ai vendu depuis) holographique, des stickers clochettes

Sur le OMG de China Glaze, avec des stickers roses et des poils de chats en bonus (je crois comprendre d'où vient le fait que mon flacon d'OMG soit presque vide, quand on peint les doigts avec, ça descend plus vite!!)

Les premiers stampings pas droits et pas centrés (là-dessus, j'suis pas sûre de faire beaucoup mieux mtnt) et surtout, je ne sais toujours pas comment nettoyer mes manucures...

Les cuticules aussi ont droit à de l'amour... et du vernis!!

Y'a de l'idée, certes, enfin, on devine derrière la photo floue...

Mon premier marble, on est loin des jolis motifs en pétales...

Toi aussi, assortis tes ongles à tes bottes, et fais descendre le vernis jusqu'au coude pour bonne mesure!

Oh, ça semble presque parfait... presque :p

Alors là j'ai nettoyé!! j'en ai viré la moitié, mais j'ai nettoyé!! Le... scotch pour faire des lignes droites?? pfff, complètement inutile voyons!

Qu'est-ce qui est pire? la photo floue? le tour des doigts repeints? les stickers mal posés qui ne tiennent pas? les ongles trop longs?

Et on finit en festival avec des ongles de toutes les longueurs, des cuticules pas hydratées et (très) approximatives, du striping tape qui se barre et qui recueille des poils...

Rose Watermable

Il y a bien longtemps que je n'ai pas fait un coup de "reprenons une vieille manucure pour la faire en version 2012", et comme l'autre jour j'avais trèèèès envie d'un watermable, j'ai décidé de retenter un de mes préférés de tous les temps. Je vous laisse d'abord savourer la version vintage.

 

 

 

 

 Alors en terme de watermable, il n'est pas trop mal, même si mon oeil de lynx voit matière à critique, je ne vais trop rien dire. Sur le coup, ce sont plutôt les photos qui sont pourraves, et surtout, mais ça j'admets qu'il faut être moi pour le voir, l'état de mes mains à l'époque. Bref, sans plus attendre, passons à la version 2012.

J'ai d'abord appliqué une base blanche, et ensuite j'ai sorti Fair Dinkum Pinkum, Meep-Meep-Meep, The One that Got Away et Lincoln Park After Dark, le tout chez OPI. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sur la main droite, allez comprendre pourquoi, il y a un doigt qui ne ressemble à aucun autre, mais j'aime bien quand même, on dirait une orchidée!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Et là, le super cliché pris au retardateur pour montrer les deux mains. C'est encore un poil flou, mais j'y suis presque!!

China Glaze CowGirl Up + Nail art from the vault

Hi! Some time ago I showed you a vampy comparaison for one of my Nails Inc. mini polishes, and I realised with some shock that I had never presented one of my favourite polishes, CowGirl Up from China Glaze. It is one of the few polishes whose bottle is almost empty after 18 months of NP addiction. It's a red purple shimmer with blue and red micro-particles that literally "glows from within". Each time I've worn it, I was mesmerized by my fingers. You see it below in two coats, the flash pic shows the red and blue.

 

 

Naturally, this polish whas the base of one of my favourite nail-arts when I associated it with OPI Show It and Glow It, as you can see below in a Vault picture (so you know what to expect... dirty cuticles, messy nail-art and blurry pic!)

For the 2012 edition, I switched the peel-offs for silver striping tape and used the scotchtape method to have a straight and clean line.

I'm not 100% satisfied with the new version because I didn't place the scotchtape in exactly the same way on all nails (see the difference between index and middle-finger) but otherwise, I still love that combo very very very much!!

Friends' Friday - Lilinails and her St Patrick manucure

This is Friends' Friday! I shall have things in store from Svetlana soon and hopefully I'll have some photos from the contest winners in the near future, but today I'm gonna talk about a French blogger I've followed for a long while, even if she's been less active lately. It's Lilinails and her blog Nail-Art et Cie, and what I like about it is how she very often matches her nails to her clothes. It's something I tend to do too and I adore that. She also makes super awesome tutorials!! 

One year ago, I decided to copy one of her nail-arts, the Celtic one (big surprise, hey?), and here was the result: 

 

 

 

Yes, I'm showing you all the horrible glory of messy uncleaned nail-art and blurry pics, just to show the progress over a year.

So since I really loved this nail-art, I decided to include it into my "Then and now" series and give it another try. Green base is China Glaze Emerald Sparkle and the silver is A-england Excalibur. If you want to give it a try, I can't explain any better than Lili did in her tutorial, so check it out!

  

 So in my eyes there's still room for improvement, but still I'm quite happy about the 2012 version!

Wyrd Wednesday - Airgetlam, the Silver Hand

Today's Wednesday and it's the day I go all Wyrd (=weirder than usual that is), talking about whatever comes into my head. I'm still in my Celtic nail-art series but today's nail-art comes with stories and legends. I'm gonna talk a bit about me too! Still in my endeavour to be less harsh on myself, I'm forcing myself to see my progress instead of the road that's still ahead. It goes for every field: sooo, you might have noticed that lately I've been a bit more into nail-art than I used to be and I decided to re-do some designs I tried last year, with mitigated success I have to say!! So from time to time now you'll see my past endeavours in all their awful glory (and bad pictures!) and the 2012 version.

The inspiration behind this manicure was a character from Irish mythology called Nuada Airgetlam, Nuada of the Silver Hand. The name might be familiar to you if you know the Hellboy stories but there's no similarities between the two characters. Nuada was a king of the Tuatha de Danann, the Fairy Folks of Ireland (I'm summarizing a bit otherwise we're here until 2013), but he lost an arm during the first battle of Mag Tured agains the Firbolgs (the primeval giants that held the Isle of Ireland under thralldom). Being king of the Tuatha de Danann required, among other things, physical integrity, so Nuada had to give up his position. Bres became king in his stead, but he was unworthy and submitted the Tuatha to the Fomorians, much to the dismay of his own people. In the meantime, the physician Diancecht had devised a silver arm for Nuada so the Tuatha could destitute Bres and place the Airgetlam back on the throne where he reigned for another twenty years. 

So when I found a konad plate with a Celtic interlace, I wanted to go for different kinds of grey and become myself an Airgetlam, Lelie of the Silver Hand! That first nail-art was done with OPI Suzi Sky in the Pyrenees Suede and China Glaze Let's Do It in 3D, with the stamping done with China Glaze Milenium. Apologies for the blurry pictures, but that should give you an idea...

 

 

For 2012, I used A-england Arthur instead of a holo polish, and I tried to draw a French manicure with the stamping (it's a straight line on the plate, so making the curve wasn't easy as it looks!) and then cover the tips with OPI Suki Sky in the Pyrenees Suede.

Of course, the second version is "better" in terms of execution and pictures, but I will probably try it again with the combo matte and holo, I find it feistier!
