Unicorns Unite

Bonjour!

OPI New York City Ballet - Barre My Soul

OPI New York City Ballet - Pirouette My Whistle & comparisons

We finally reach the last instalment for my presentation of OPI NYC Ballet collection. As you know if you've looked the collection up, there are two other shades, one beige pink and one sharper pink that I don't have. I wanted to try the formula with unusual colours but now I admit that I'll probably get Barre my Soule at some point, because as much as I like OPI Bubble Bath's colour, I hate the streakiness. But that's another story. Now to the last bottle of the mini-set, the glitter top-coat Pirouette My Whistle. You've seen it layered on other shades, so I'm going straight to what makes this t-c special. I thought it would be a dupe to my H&M Confetti Kisses, but as you can see below, it's not the case at all.

The theory is the same, but the hex glitter in Confetti Kiss are silver, pure and simple, like little foil leaves, while the glitter in Pirouette my Whistle is more of a matte/milky silver quality, which makes it very delicate and really suited to the collection it belongs too. I love them both, and I think that a full-size bottle of PmW is likely to end up in my Helmer sooner or later.
To finish this review, I added below a comparison of Don't Touch my Tutu with two other non-opaque whites that I have, Essie Waltz on the left and Urban Decay Love Train on the right, all in two coats.

Love Train is shimmery/frosty so it's quite different, but Waltz and DTMT are really close in colour and texture, the only difference being that Waltz is streaky and DTMT isn't... So if you love Essie Waltz but would love a better application, I really recommend the OPI!!

I had intended to post this earlier so if I want to stick to my schedule, I'll be publishing another message this afternoon (lucky girls) to tell you about my meeting with a star! From now on, I will also switch the languages in my post, putting the French first: my French readers now far outnumber my English-speaking ones, and it seems only fair to make things more comfortable for the majority, I hope you won't be too mad at me...

OPI New York City Ballet Collection - My Pointe Exactly

Third colour for this presentation is the grey My Pointe Exactly. Formula-wise, always the same, easy application, no streaking, self-leveling and glossy. Colorwise, I have to admit that it's not my favourite, the jelly pale grey gives a bit of a sickly hue to the hands if worn alone.

So for a change, I decided to add Pirouette My Whistle on every fingers, and it looks a bit like hail on a rainy sky!!

OPI New York City Ballet Collection - Care to Danse

Second colour of the OPI NYC Ballet collection (yes, I'm kinda proud of my title-photo so you'll see it each time!!), here's the lavender Care to Danse. Nothing to say about the formula that I didn't say yesterday, and once again, a beautiful and delicate manicure. The lavender colour is quite hard to see on pics (it shows at best on the second and third pics) but in real it does look different from a pink. It reminds me of Steady as She Rose from the Pirates of the Carribeans Collection, you can never really tell whether it's grey pink or lavender, but it's always very classy.

And below with one coat of Pirouette my Whistle on the ring finger.

Finally, this is how I wore it as a full manucure, by making a glitter gradient with Color Club SugarPlum Fairy (that I showed you here)

OPI New York City Ballet Collection - Don't Touch My Tutu

I'm very disappointed that  none of you tried to guess yesterday, but there you go: today's the first shade I'm reviewing from OPI's latest collection, New York City Ballet. It's the usual softshades/bridal collection, but it's quite surprising nonetheless.

Don't Touch My Tutu (which invariably calls to mind this stupid video: WOW Geekness) is a delicate off-white polish and, first surprise, it's a jelly. This could be bad news for me since I like my polishes to be really opaque, but I acutally love it, for one very good reason: it's absolutely non-streaky and self-leveling. Plus, being a jelly, it has a crazy glossy finish. And well, I don't know, maybe with time I've learned to like my short-plated nails and I don't mind that much to see the VNL...

The second surprise of this collection is the glitter top-coat Pirouette my Whistle. I'll be doing a separate post about it, for the moment, I'm just showing you one coat over Don't Touch my Tutu as an accent nail.
